Twelve days until we close on the new house! Not that I’m super excited and counting, or anything like that!
Today I’m thinking about Kora’s big girl room. She chose a gorgeous blue color from Sherwin Williams called Crystal Clear. It’s a perfect light shade of blue and it very closely resembles a certain Ice Queen’s fancy dress!
Here is the design board I have come up with for Kora’s room.
1. Shades of light drum light | 2. Sherwin Williams SW6756 Crystal Clear | 3. Circo Dots & Stripes Bedding | 4. Snowflake wall clings | 5. White table & chairs | 6. Built in bench | 7. White nightstand | 8. Frozen canvas art
The first part of her room design actually came from the Circo Dots & Stripes Bedding. Kora saw it at Target and instantly loved it. We then chose the Crystal Clear paint because it was a perfect accent color with the bedding.
After selecting the room color I was set out to find the perfect light fixture. I wanted something unique and large. I came across Shades of Light from Young House Love and when I found their spa blue drum light I instantly knew it was perfect! When it arrived I was beyond pleased with not only the quality but the size and color. It will be the perfect fixture for our big girl’s room!
Kora wants a subtle Frozen theme so we’ll incorporate some glitter snowflake wall decals as well as some Frozen canvas art. The goal was to not make a FROZEN room, but to make a room Kora could grow with and simply use accent pieces to show her love for the movie Frozen.
Our entire house has white trim and Kora’s room is no different. But it does have a very special addition… a built in window seat! I’m so excited for this! It’s on hinges so she can store her blankets, stuffed animals, and other toys inside of it. We also put a built in desk and shelves around the bench. This should add a lot of great storage for her!
