When my daughter asked daddy what he wanted for Father’s Day he said a massage. Okay, he didn’t really. But if she would have asked him on a day when his back was aching perhaps that’d be what he’d say. Ha!
For his present we decided to make a back massage shirt. But not just any back massage shirt, a Hot Wheels Massage Shirt!
We got the template off of a wonderful blog called The Blue Basket. She provided me with the perfect template and instructions and so away we went!
The first step was buying a plain white t-shirt and printing the template. We placed the template inside of the shirt with newspaper underneath, just in case the fabric markers leaked through.
Kora then followed the pattern with a black fabric marker. This required a little bit of help because the shirt would move so I held it tight while she traced the lines.
After all of the black outlines were done Kora chose which colors she wanted to use for all the buildings.
We bought some Hot Wheels Monster Jam trucks. They have really nice big wheels so would feel perfect on dad’s back!
And there you have it! A nice homemade Hot Wheels Massage Shirt for dad! He gets to lay down and relax while the girls play cars on his back. Sometimes they get a little crazy and crash the cars, but otherwise it’s been wonderful!
It was finally here! Star Wars Half Marathon – The Dark Side weekend! I was so excited to participate in my very first runDisney event! I was only able to run the 5k due to my flight schedule but I was excited non-the-less.
The first thing you have to do for runDisney weekends is attend the Expo. This is held at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. This event is where you get your race bib, timing chips, t-shirts, commemorative items, and can shop until you drop at the runners expo.
First stop, the HP Field House to pick up my bib and t-shirt! You can also get your pre-purchased items and commemorative items as well!
One thing that many people love is the special Dooney & Bourke purses that they release for these races. They had plenty of variety left for people to choose from.
After collecting these items, you can make your way over to the Jostens Center to shop!
Next stop, sleep!!! The bus leaves the resort at 4am for the Star Wars Dark Side 5k Race.
Many people have heard about runDisney races. They are exciting opportunities to run 5K, 10K, Half Marathons, and Full Marathons through Disney properties. I am so excited to race my first 5K runDisney race in less than a month! I am excited to fill you in on all the details that go into traveling for a runDisney Race. Today we’ll start with registering for the race!
If it’s your first time to register for a runDisney race, here are some tips. How to register for a runDisney race.
The first thing you’ll want to do is create an account at www.active.com. This is the website that Disney uses to register folks for their runDisney events. You’ll want to have your account setup and be familiar with their website before registration goes live.
That brings me to my next tip. Be prepared. Disney will release the runDisney dates over a year in advance and registration opens up about 8 months in advance. You’ll want to follow runDisney on Twitter and Facebook for official release dates, but they are generally around that mark. They will be very specific about the release date. For instance, March 22nd at 12pm. If you want to register for a race, have yourself logged into your Active account and ready to go at 11:50am! Refresh until the registration opens. Some races don’t sell out as quickly, but others will sell out almost immediately.
Once you register for your race you’ll get an email from Active with your registration confirmation. It won’t actually tell you too much, however it does have your registration ID and the date of your event.
About a month before the race you’ll get your information packet and finally have access to the official race course! It’s a very exciting time!
I am set to run runDisney’s inaugural Star Wars – Dark Side 5k. The race is Friday April 15th, 2016 and I cannot wait to bring you more information as we get closer!
